Morris Central School has been named a recipient of a Capacity Building Grant from Terra Science and Education, Inc. to expand its Elementary Science Laboratory.

Morris Central School has been awarded $4,000 to revitalize its science laboratory. The grant project, led by Heather Grant, will update the school’s science lab to accommodate STEAM education and implement the new New York State Science Learning Standards. The grant will be used to lab kits, technology, and durable supplies.

Morris Central School is one of 23 organizations across New York State being awarded Capacity Building Grants from Terra Science and Education. For the 2020 grant cycle Terra received 35 applications totaling more than $135,000 in grant funds. Of the applicants, Terra awarded a total of $59,009.63 in grants to schools and educational non-profits to increase educational opportunities for students throughout the State.

The Terra Capacity Building Grant Program accepts applications from schools and educational non-profits who have a project that will build long-term capacity and impact a number of students for years to come. Grant awards range from $1,000 to a maximum or $5,000. Applications for 2021 will be accepted until December 1, 2020.
