Help! Morris, NY Service Dog Stolen Right From Her Yard
Have you ever heard of someone having their dog stolen? It happens much more often than you think. According to Petkeen.com, 2 million dogs are stolen every year in the U.S.! Isn't that a staggering statistic? It just shows how profitable it can be to dognap and then resell dogs since it has become very popular, especially since the COVID pandemic began, to own a dog.
It's bad enough to steal someone's beloved dog, but it's on another level to steal a service dog that someone clearly relies on as more than just a wonderful companion! That's what happened in Morris, NY according to the Susquehanna SPCA. A black and white Frenchie, "Luna". She is suspected of being stolen right out of her family's yard since she is highly trained as a service animal to stay put. Luna disappeared from her owner's yard on May 1. Her yard is on the corner of Rt. 51 and Rt. 23, which happens to be a highly traveled area.
Luna is a registered service dog for a disabled man who is very distraught after her disappearance. Searches within a 10-mile radius of her home did not prove productive and Luna seems to have vanished.
Luna's family is asking for area residents to be on the lookout for Luna and If anyone has information, please contact the owner at (607) 258-4112. Let's hope Luna's whereabouts can be discovered and that she is safely returned to her owners!
