Mysterious blasts felt by hundreds of Walton residents on Saturday were the result of a single, unidentified person shooting at targets on top of a hill near the Chipmunk Hollow area.

"What we found after investigation was somebody shooting at exploding targets at the top of a hill," said Walton Fire Chief, Bob Brown. "It caused a loud boom and caused people to have concern over what was going on."

No damage was reported from the incident and no arrests were made. Walton Fire was called to the scene as well as the sheriff's department.

Local emergency personnel received several calls from concerned residents Saturday afternoon as the blasts rattled windows and shook homes.
