The gas drilling debate is beginning heat to a boiling point throughout the southern tier.

Deputy Senate Majority Leader Tom Libous claims he has received repeated threats of bodily harm and said environmental activists have launched personal and political threats against officials in the southern tier.

The threats come as Governor Andrew Cuomo is appearing to stall his decision on whether to open New York to horizontal high water volume hydraulic fracturing.

Recently, Utica residents began fearing it would be targeted as a fracking location.
