Look at the face (above).  Hard to place her, isn't it?

Some actresses win some awards.  Some actresses win some honors.  Julie Harris, America's greatest dramatic theater star, won them all.

She had an anonymity about her that allowed her to slide easily into any number of roles.  She was transformative, and the Broadway audiences rewarded her with standing ovations for over sixty years.  She won an astounding 5 Tony Awards for Best Actress in a Drama, something nobody else has done.  She starred in the Broadway show "A Member of the Wedding" in 1950 and then two years later repriseed her role for the screen, her film debut.  She was nominated for an Academy Award for her very first screen appearance.

Other acclaimed roles including playing Mary Lincoln, Emily Bronte, Sally Bowles (of "Cabaret" fame), Joan of Arc and more.  She was also a familiar presence on television with her role as one of the matriarchs on the hit show "Dynasty."  She was nominated for eleven Emmy Awards.

Harris was a frequent and familiar guest star on television.  She guested more than 100 times on various shows including The Big Valley, Columbo, Bonanza, Laredo, Daniel Boone and more.

Julie Harris also starred opposite James Dean in the classic film "East of Eden."

Five Tony Awards, a Kennedy Center Honor Award, a National Medal of the Arts, a Grammy nomination, Oscar nominations, eleven Emmy nominations, over one hundred television appearances and more.

But, honestly.  Did you recognize her face?

She was 87 years old at the time of her death.
