Stefon Diggs Wanted To Be Traded To Houston?
A lot has gone down in the last couple of hours with the Buffalo Bills. We heard from the Bills general manager about the trade but did Diggs want out?
The rumors were true
The rumors have been running rampant since last offseason that Diggs wanted out of Buffalo. He never said it in public. He even said that he wanted to retire a Buffalo Bill. But they just kept on coming.
Tons of people thought it would never happen. How could it? After his extension, it felt like he wasn't going anywhere for a very long time.
Then it happened. The Bills traded Stefon Diggs.
Why? Even more, why now?
Bills general manager Brandon Beane held a press conference and said that he has gotten multiple inquiries about Stefon Diggs over the years. The timing was never quite right. But then talks got serious at the beginning of the week and he felt like now was the right time to do it. He added that there were some things that needed to be kept in-house as to why players get moved.
A Houston running back claims that Diggs asked for this
Just a couple of minutes after the trade was made public, Houston running back Joe Mixon claimed that Diggs had asked for a trade a couple of weeks ago.
Is Diggs the final piece needed in Houston?
Houston went from zero to hero last year with the addition of rookie quarterback CJ Stroud and a stout defense. They made the playoffs and looked to be dangerous before getting knocked off by Baltimore in the divisional round.
Can they take that next step this year with Diggs?
