I Took A Walk and Found a Gorgeous Farm Mural and an Albino Squirrel Along the Way!
My wife said "get up and go take a walk." I said, "Yes, dear."
Taking a walk through Oneonta really opens your eyes to things that you just don't see when you go whizzing by in a car. My first impression today was how dirty everything was. The melting snow reveals a couple of months worth of garbage, Christmas decorations and junk strewn about. I think this is not new, however.
I walked for two miles today. It was cold but not unbearable. I enjoyed my walk a lot. As I strolled along Center Street near West Street I looked up at Hartwick College and was amazed at a bright, colorful mural splashed all across the front of one of their buildings. I went up to explore. It was beautiful!
I have no idea who did this mural (it is paper panels covering the bricks) but congratulations on a stunning rural depiction right in the middle of the city.
As I headed back down Chestnut Street into the face of a now bracing wind, I heard a chattering going off to my right. I was stunned to see an albino squirrel chomping away on some seed in a feeder on a tree right out near the sidewalk. I stopped and stared at him for quite a while He was pure white and was totally unfazed by my intrusion into his little snack session. I have never seen an albino squirrel before.
You never know what you are going to see when you "get up and take a walk."
