Alan O'Day has died.

The singer was only a one-hit wonder as a solo act, and that was "Undercover Angel."  His 1977 hit sold more than 2-million copies world wide and was one of the biggest radio hits of the year.  Although that was O'Day's only trip up the charts as a singer, he wrote many hits for other acts.

"Angie Baby" was one of Helen Reddy's greatest successes.  O'Day wrote the song in 1974.  He also wrote the Righteous Brothers' hit "Rock and Roll Heaven" as well as hits for Cher.  On television he wrote more than one hundred songs for the Saturday morning animated show Muppet Babies.
