Herb Jeffries, who broke color lines appearing as a black singing cowboy in Western films in the 1940s, has died at 100.  His movies carried the titles like "Harlem on the Prairie" and "Two-Gun Man From Harlem."

Jeffries was also an accomplished jazz singer who was a contemporary of Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington.  He recorded many hits and was a popular concert act.  His career reached well into the 1960s when Jeffries could be found guest starring on TV in "The Virginian" and recording an album of country songs in 1995 titled "The Bronze Buckaroo Rides Again.

Listen to a very unusual recording by Herb Jeffries below.  It is his 1951 tribute to General Douglas MacArthur.
