Hanford Mills Ice Harvest Fest Fun Coming Feb. 6
Imagine having to cut ice to keep your food preserved because you don't have a refrigerator or freezer? Add to that no electricity and doing most everything the old fashioned way - by hand. Imagine no more. Hanford Mills Museum in East Meredith brings life at a saw and grist mill to life for everyone to experience on February 6th with the Ice Harvest Festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
You can enjoy taking part in a traditional ice harvest, just as communities did a century ago. This festival also includes ice carving by the SUNY Delhi Hospitality Center Ice Team, ice fishing with Trout Unlimited, horse-drawn sleigh rides, a snowman village, hot soup buffet, food truck vendors, blacksmithing and cooking demonstrations, and exhibits by local businesses and farmers. Kids 12 and under get in free; Adults and Teens, $9; Seniors, $7.
