General Nathanael Greene was one of the most brilliant officers in George Washington's command.  As a Major-General he organized the American Army's "Southern Campaign" which led to the direct surrender of the British Forces.

Like other heroes of the American Revolution, Greene was honored by the naming of countless cities, towns, parks, ships and counties around the country in his honor.  I wonder how many people in Upstate realize that Greene, N.Y., in Chenango County, was named after a war hero who made his name and reputation in the South and who rests eternally in Savannah, Georgia?

Greene even has a pub named after him on Main Street in the village of Greene.
