Delaware County Sheriff Deputies arrested a Franklin, NY, resident for criminal contempt after responding to a harassment complaint in the Town of Franklin on Wednesday evening, May 27, 2020.

Investigation revealed that Monday evening, May 25, 2020, 68 year-old Thomas M. Lima, of Franklin, NY, made contact with, and harassed, a protected party for whom an order of protection was issued by the Delaware County Family Court. Upon completing their investigation, Deputies arrested and charged Lima with harassment in the second degree and criminal contempt in the second degree.

During his arrest processing at the Delaware County Sheriff's Office, Lima attempted to physically prevent Deputies from performing their duties by spitting on, and attempting to trip deputies who were assisting Lima.

As a result, Lima was also charged with obstructing governmental administration in the second degree and the Class D felony offense of attempted assault on a police officer in the second degree.

Lima was arraigned by on-call Deposit Court Justice Paul Lantz, via video teleconference, and was remanded to the Delaware County Correctional Facility in lieu of $1,000 cash bail, or posting a $2,500 secured bond or a partial bond of 10% of $250.00 ($25.00), pending his future appearances in the Town of Franklin and Delhi Courts on later dates.
