Broome and Tioga County residents will have several opportunities to obtain a flu shot over the next few weeks.

Many pharmacies and supermarkets have been offering vaccinations. In some cases, they're available seven-days-a-week.

The health departments in each county have scheduled a series of flu clinics starting Wednesday, October 10.

Flu shots will be available at the Broome County Health Department at 225 Front Street in Binghamton on October 10 from 9:00 a.m to 3:00 p.m.

Flu shots also will be offered October 10 at two Owego sites. They'll be available at Owego Countryside Community Center on Sheldon Guile Boulevard from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. and from 1:00 to 4:30 p.m. They will also be offered at Long Meadow Senior Housing on Browns Lane from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m.

The flu shot clinics sponsored by the Broome County Health Department will be held through December 3. The full schedule can be obtained by calling the department's influenza information line at 607.778.3911, option 2.

Clinics offered by the Tioga County Health Department are scheduled to run through October 29. The complete schedule is available at 888.369.0700.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends annual seasonal flu vaccination for everyone over the age of six months.
