Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown will provide a free and private screening with a Bassett psychotherapist in recognition of National Depression Screening day.

The event is 1-4 p.m. on Thursday at Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic. Psychotherapists from Bassett’s Department of Psychiatry will assist in the screening.

Many people cannot tell the difference between normal grief, passing sadness or serious clinical depression. Bassett’s professionals can assist you in determining the difference.

Participants will be asked to complete a simple evaluation form that will be reviewed with a therapist.

No appointment is necessary and there is no cost for screenings; the service is funded by the Kathryn Tamara Harmon Fund, established in loving memory of Elmer M. Harmon.
