6: 30 am: The National Weather Service at Binghamton has announced a Flash Flood Watch for all of Central New York and and northeast Pennsylvania through this evening.

Widespread rain totals of 1 and 3/4 inches to 2 and 1/4 inches most likely with isolated spots of 2 ½ to 3 inches possible.

Small streams and creeks will be most vulnerable for flooding. Flooding could become rapid and violent (“flashy”) under any persistent heavy rain. Most larger rivers will rise a few to several feet, but should remain within their banks. A few quicker responding headwater points could flood.

There is a chance of minor flooding in the area, specifically the West Branch of the Delaware at Walton in Delaware County and the Chenango River at Sherburne in Chenango County.

Regular updates can be followed via the National Weather Service at Binghamton's website.
