President Barack Obama bestowed the highest civilian award given in this country to country music singer Loretta Lynn at a White House ceremony today.

Lynn, one of the great pioneers of the genre, has been reaching heights in her country music career for more than a half century.  The Coal Miner's Daughter is one of 16 receiving this ultimate award in Washington today.

Congratulations Loretta!
