State Assemblyman Cliff Crouch says the state legislature is in a mess due to all the scandals taking place during this year’s session.

Crouch says the Republican conference has come up with the solution to a long time issue.

"We've got a case of a lot of corruption here and people are losing their faith in government," Crouch said. "Our conference is introducing legislation to try and offset some of that. Basically, one of the main things in my mind is (introducing) term limits for the leadership here -- no more than eight years in leadership.

"We've got a gentleman that's been there for 25 years as the speaker of the Assembly," he added of Sheldon Silver. "It's time to hand that over."
