Chenango County Woman Sentenced For Manslaughter of Infant
A Town of Pitcher woman pleaded guilty to 2nd degree manslaughter yesterday, March 7th, in Chenango County Court.
On September 6 of last year a 3-month-old baby was found dead at Geneia Rood's home in Pitcher, Chenango County. An autopsy found alcohol in the infant's system and ruled the death as a homicide.
Rood told the judge that the baby was crying and would not stop. Intoxicated at the time, Rood mixed vodka with the baby's formula and fed it to her.
38-year-old Rood will serve 3 and a half to 10 and a half years in prison. As part of her sentence, Rood agreed not to appeal her case.
