Well, I think I have found my career after I hang up the old headphones (relax, not for a while yet!).

I went to Tioga Downs Racetrack last weekend with some family and friends.  It was a hot, beautiful day.  We sat at a table near the finish line.  The food and beverage was excellent and the horses were running in my favor.  it was a very pleasant afternoon.

And then it dawned on me!  Recently I have been pondering what awaits me when I move on from radio? What career am I tailor made for?  I think I found it here at Tioga Downs (no, not a jockey!)

Before each race I saw him.  Striding purposefully out of his own little cabana.  I watched him in awe.  Such elegance. Such confidence.  So regal.  He marched right up the the track rail and donned his sterling white gloves.  He gracefully placed his black silk top hat on his head.  With great flourish he raised a majestic long brass trumpet.  As all eyes focused on him he blew the familiar "Horses, take your post" trill that has started thousands of races for hundreds of years.

When he got done he again trod, in slow motion of course, back to his cabana until the next race began.  All eyes followed him. Young girls flirted with him.  Kids reached up to touch him.

YES!  I have found my post-radio career!  It has everything I am looking for (especially the flirting girls).  I want to be the race track bugler!

Can't you just see me in this outfit (I hope they make the coat in a 52-extra long!).
