Big Chuck Opens His Variety Show Vault: “Sonny and Cher Comedy Show” (VIDEO)

Sonny and Cher were television's favorite married couple.  Well, for a couple of years anyways.

They blazed on to the TV scene in 1971 with their variety show.  They made quite a pair, that is for sure.  Short, funny looking  and musically challenged Sonny made the perfect straight man to glamorous and super talented wife Cher.  The couple had a number of hits on the Billboard charts ("I Got You Babe" would be their TV signature song also).  The show featured elaborate sets and costumes and extravagant musical selections.  A whole pageant of 1970s stars made guest appearances on this hit show, which ran from 1971 to 1974.  The show faded away as their marriage did in real life.

The show was a top-rated Top 20 program for every year it was on.
