Command Sgt. Major Basil Plumley, 92, has died.  This legendary warrior enlisted in three different wars:  World War II, Korea and Vietnam.  As an Army infantryman in Vietnam, the actions of his company were turned into a popular Mel Gibson movie, "We Were Soldiers."  Actor Sam Elliott played Basil Plumley in the movie, where his character was called what Plumley was actually named by his fellow soldiers, "Old Iron Jaw."

Plumley is one of the only documented soldiers to have ever parachuted directly into an ongoing battle five different times.  For that he was awarded the Master Combat Parachutist Medal With Gold Star.

Thank you for your service "Old Iron Jaw."
