Rock and Roll legend Phil Everly of the Everly Borhters has died at the age of 74.

Phil and Don Everly posted more than 35 hits on the Billboard charts from the late 1950s through the 1960s.  Among their biggest hits were "Bye By Love," "Bird Dog," "Cathy's Clown" and "All I have to Do is Dream."  The duo was so important to the growth of early rock and roll that when the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame first opened its doors in 1986 they were among the first 10 inductees.

The Everly Brothers were also inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2001

Don Everly survives his brother.
