Patti Page, best known for her two songs "Tennessee Waltz" and "Doggie in the Window", died New Year's Day at the age of 85.

Page came onto the scene in 1947 with her single "Confess", but didn't reach No. 1 on the charts until 1949 with "All My Love."

But it was in the 1950s with "Tennessee Waltz" that  put the young singer on top for good. She followed that with several top hits and is perhaps equally known for "Doggie in the Window."

She died in a nursing home in California.
