BABY BOOMER ALERT: Happy Birthday to the Frisbee!

It all started back in the late 1930s when a guy named Fred Morrison was offered a quarter by some students on the Santa Monica beach.  What did they want?  Fred's empty pie pan.  The kids bought it and started tossing it about in the sand.  From those humble beginnings came the Frisbee.

It began being marketed (the plastic version) by WHAM-O on this day in 1957.  Millions of them have been sold and in 1998 the Frisbee was inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame.
