Spaghetti O's first went on sale this day back in 1965.

This staple for Mom's at dinner time when invented by Donald Goerke while tasked by Campbell Soups (and their labelmate Franco-American) to come up with a spaghetti that "didn't make a mess when kids ate it."  He was dubbed "The Daddy-O of SpaghettiOs" and during his more than three decades with Campbell he also invented Chunky Soups.

More than 175-million cans of SpaghettiOs a year have been sold since they were first introduced on supermarket shelves May 16, 1965.
