Baby Boomer Alert: “Chatty Cathy” Doll Turns 56 Years Old! (VIDEO)

Chatty Cathy is having a birthday.  She was born this week, 1959.

She was the first mass-marketed talking girl's doll.  I had five sisters.  This doll was everywhere in my house when I was growing up.  Although her lips never moved, the original Chatty Cathy could "speak" 11 phrases by pulling a cord out from her back.  "May I have a cookie?, "Lets play school," Please take me with you," "I like you," and others. Millions of them have been sold since 1959.

I gotta tell you, and maybe this is the "boy" in me...this doll was more than a little creepy. Take a look below and see what I mean.
