This legendary entertainer fled the Nazi's aboard a transport ship named the U.S.S. American Legion.  He arrived in New York from Denmark in 1940 with just $20 in his pocket.  An accomplished pianist and a natural storyteller, he soon found work on radio and in the clubs of New York City.

Victor Borge was one of the most beloved entertainers of the 20th century.  He was a star of radio, television and recordings.  His one-man Broadway show, titled "Comedy in Music," rand for 849 performances, making it the Guiness Book-certified longest one-man show in Broadway history.

"The Great Dane" never stopped working.  He was making 60 concert appearances when he was in his nineties.  In fact, he died a day after returning to America after giving a concert in his homeland, Denmark.  It was reported that he gave more than 4,000 live concerts over his long career, more than any other entertainer.
