Baby Boomer Alert: Anybody Remember “Spoolies?”

I grew up in a house with five sisters.  These things surfaced in the early 1960s with my sister Fran.  I have no idea what she used them for (she slept with them on) but I do know that my two brothers and I loved them.

Spoolies, which were made females to get "the perfect curls" were also great for young boys.  They made wonderful miniature spaceships, pencil holders and great projectiles to "fling" at each other (and our sisters).  At one time in our house several girls were using these at the same time.  Spoolies were everywhere!

Boy, we had some great "spoolie wars" in the backyard when my buddies and I got together around the old dirt pile!

Does anybody else remember thee odd hair care products?
