Why can't we ever remember this television legend's name?

Bea Benaderet was a familiar voice and face to Baby Boomers for more than thirty years.  A prominent voice actress on radio, she made the transition to television with ease.  She starred as Blanche Morton, the nosy neighbor, on the George Burns and Gracie Allen Show for its entire run.  She later played Kate Bradley the owner of the Shady Rest Hotel in Petticoat Junction.

Benaderet was the first choice to play Granny on The Beverly Hillbillies but the role went to Irene Ryan.  Instead she was cast as Jethro's mother, Cousin Pearl Bodine.  She was also the first choice to play Ethel Mertz on the I Love Lucy Show but the role ultimately went to an unknown Vivian Vance.

One of her favorite roles was again in the voice over world.   Bea Benaderet was the voice of Betty Rubble in the hit TV show The Flintstones.

All of these great screen credits..and yet we can never seem to remember this great lady's name!
