New York State Police recently arrested 30 year old Todd Hamilton of Unadilla for 2nd degree menacing, 4th degree criminal possession of a weapon and 7th degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. 35 year old Nathan Diamond also of Unadilla and 33 year old Jodi Babcock of Sidney were both charged with 7th degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. These arrests occurred after troopers responded to a Chenango County 911 report of a two men fighting in a car Thursday, possibly with a knife, on Turner Street in the Town of Preston. While arriving on scene, troopers found the three suspects were separated and no one was injured. An investigation determined that Hamilton was driving a vehicle while Babcock and Diamond were passengers. While driving Hamilton was in a verbal argument with the front seat passenger Diamond when he allegedly tried to stab Diamond with a knife. As the two struggled Hamilton stopped the car and Babcock called 911. Also, during this investigation the suspects were found to be in possession of about 3 grams of heroin. All three suspects were arraigned in the Town of Oxford court and remanded to the Chenango County jail in lieu of $500.00 cash bail. All three are to return to the Town of Preston court tomorrow.
