Another Huge Jump in New COVID Cases/ Chenango Deaths Reach 100
New York State is seeing a huge jump in the number of daily positive tests for COVID-19, led by downstate areas like Long Island while the Southern Tier also is seeing significant increases in cases.
New York State on December 28 reported over 40,000 new cases from December 27. With that skip in reporting, New York on Monday reported 132 deaths for Saturday and Sunday. December 28, the state reported 77 more residents had lost their lives to the pandemic.
Broome County reports the addition of 179 cases on December 27. The number of active cases is up by close to 100 from the previous day at 1,678 and the number of people in the hospital with COVID-19 is up by fifteen to 104 hospitalized.
Chenango County has reached a grim mark in the pandemic. December 28, the county death toll had reached 100. There were 20 new cases.
A delay in reporting for Cortland County puts the number of new cases at 257 since last Thursday, December 23.
