I love turkey on Thanksgiving.  I have had it at friend's houses, my in-laws, in restaurants when I was on the road and even in my own home with my own kids.

But when I was a kid the tradition in our family was strictly non-turkey!

Thanksgiving dinner to me in the "old days" meant Italian!  My mother cooked up a big lasagna and an antipasto salad big enough to feed an army.  At the end of the dining room table was a giant bowl of meatballs swimming in Mom's homemade spaghetti sauce. Dad would bring home some Italian bread from our market and we had Neopolitan ice cream for dessert.

We never thought anything about not having a big old Butterball in the middle of our holiday table.  And we loved it all.

Just curious...does anybody else have a "non-turkey" Thanksgiving tradtion in their family?
