On March 6th State Police at Binghamton responded to a report of a 23-year-old male not breathing.

Upon arriving at a residence in the Town of Chenango, troopers found the unconscious man inside. After assessing the victim and finding he was not breathing, troopers administered CPR and attached an automated external defibrillator (AED), delivering one shock. The victim regained consciousness and was transported to Wilson Memorial Hospital in Johnson City where he was expected to make a full recovery.

A recent report stated that the New York State Police are successfully using AEDs at double the national average. AEDs have become standard equipment in state police vehicles.
