Several thousand New York State Electric and Gas customers are slowly getting power back on after strong storms overnight downed trees and power lines in the NYSEG service area.

Over 1,200 customers were without electricity early this morning in Chenango County had power interrupted while over 700 locations in Northern Broome County were waiting to have power restored early this morning.

Most of those locations were in the northern portions of Broome County.

NYSEG was estimating power restoration by mid morning in several locations in Broome, Chenango, Delaware, Tioga and Cortland Counties, but some areas were not projected to have electricity back on before the afternoon.

Updated status of power restoration can be found at www.nyseg.com and click on ‘outage information.’
