In less than a month a mobile crisis assessment team will be serving this area.

The Neighborhood Center in Utica will coordinate this state-funded team that is expected to be in place by June 1st. The team will probably consist of six full-time mental health therapists working in the region from 10 am to 6 pm daily. Officials say this team is there for intervention in hopes that earlier treatment will prevent hospitalization.

Bassett Medical Center notified the New York State Office of Mental Health earlier this year that due to severe provider shortages, it plans to discontinue its inpatient psychiatric services.
