The Colonia Theatre in downtown Norwich is gearing up for its first movie in digital picture and surround sound.

Tonight the theatre will show the Bruce Willis movie ‘A Good Day to Die Hard” using their brand new state-of-the-art equipment.

Co-owner of the 99-year-old theatre, Rich Barnes, says that without the change to digital, the theatre would close.

The movies now coming to Norwich will play with a clearer digital picture and 7.1 digital surround sound.

"Hollywood's gone digital, and if you're not digital by the end of this year, you might just as well go home," Barnes said. "We'll be totally digital by about July. About 20 percent of the theaters in the country will close by the end of this year."
