Windsor Teen Dies in Rollover Crash in Kirkwood
New York State Police say a Windsor teen is dead following a rollover crash on an exit ramp from Interstate 81 on Sunday, February 27.
State Police and several other agencies responded to a report of a serious crash on Exit 1 in Kirkwood at around 4:35 p.m. and found a single vehicle crashed off I-81 southbound.
The driver of the vehicle, 40-year-old Andrew Morley of Windsor was taken to Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center in Johnson City with what were said to be serious injuries.
A 14-year-old Windsor boy, who was riding in the vehicle, was taken to the hospital but later died.
Another passenger, a 12-year-old girl from Windsor, was taken to Upstate University Medical Center in Syracuse with what are said to be serious injuries.
The crash closed the area of Exit 1 for about six hours.
The investigation is continuing.
New York State Police were assisted on the scene by the Kirkwood and Five Mile Point Fire Departments, Great Bend Rescue, Broome Sheriff’s Deputies and Eastern Broome, Chenango and Union Ambulance Squads as well as the New York State Department of Transportation.
