New York State Police at Richfield Springs arrested and charged 62-year-old West Winfield Farmer, Ronald R. Bronson for an incident that took place on May 10, involving a dog chasing after Bronson's cows.

Troopers were informed that a landowner on South Road in Richfield Springs had shot and killed a dog that had entered his property. An investigation revealed that Bronson told troopers that his cows were running from the dog in his pasture so he then fired a shot at the dog, missing it. The dog then ran out of the pasture, however, Bronson pursued the dog. When he located it, he shot the dog two times, killing it, then disposed of the body.

According to police, Bronson unjustly killed the dog and was therefore arrested and charged with the misdemeanor from the Agriculture and Markets Law of Overdriving, Torturing and Injuring Animals; Failure to Provide Proper Sustenance. Bronson must appear in the town of Plainfield court on September 2, to answer for the charges.
