New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has announced a new plan to provide college classes in some of the state's prisons.

The governor says studies have shown that a college education for prisoners reduces their chances of winding up back behind bars again, saving tax dollars in the long term.

The program will offer classes in ten state prisons in every part of the state. The plan is to begin in March, possibly offering Associates and Bachelor's degrees.
