After winning high school state baseball championship and now national championship at the NCAA Division II level, Micheal Calkins is still in Tampa but has a good excuse.

Calkins says The Tampa Bay Rays have extended an invitation to the University of Tampa baseball team to come to its game Friday night against the Orioles.

"We'll hang out with the entire Rays ball club," Calkins said. "Hopefully sign some autographs, shake hands with them and maybe take some BP with the pros. Before the game, they're going to honor us and congratulate us."

Calkins, who will be playing for the Oneonta Outlaws this summer, says unfortunately he wont be around for the NYCBL opener this Friday but says this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Calkins won a state title with the Oneonta Yellow Jackets last year and just this past weekend won a national title as a freshmen with the Division II Tampa Spartans.
