SUNY Oneonta Issues Statement On Off-Campus Stabbing Incident
SUNY Oneonta has issued a statement following the arrest of Julian VanCourt-Weis, a SUNY Oneonta student from Schenectady who was arrested for attempted murder last Friday. According to City of Oneonta Police, Julian VanCourt-Wels stabbed a person at an off-campus apartment at 30 Maple Street in Oneonta, using a kitchen knife. VanCourt-Wels appeared in City of Oneonta Court and was booked into jail without bond.
The SUNY Oneonta statement says Julian Vancourt-Wels who is a junior majoring in Biology at SUNY Oneonta is being held to standards outlined in the college’s Student Code of Conduct policy which says “Any student, who has been charged, by a law enforcement agency, with any crime, on or off campus, other than a traffic infraction will be referred to the College Judicial System.” The college says judicial system proceedings are private.
