A Middleburgh man will challenge State Senator James Seward for re-election next year. Jim Barber announced he will hold a campaign launch event on Saturday, Dec. 14. Barber’s public service includes seven years as the New York State Executive Director for the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Farm Service Agency and two years in the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets as Special Assistant to the Commissioner. Seward was first elected to the state senate in 1986
