Richfield Springs Man Lands In Jail After Choking Victim

A Richfield Springs man has been arrested on felony charges involving a domestic dispute.  According to New York State Police, 53 year old Ronald E. Dingman from Little Lake Road.  Police were responding to a domestic dispute report and arrested Dingman on the following charges: Criminal Mischief 2nd degree (D-felony), Assault 3rd degree (A-misdemeanor), Criminal Obstruction of Breathing (A-misdemeanor) Menacing 2nd degree (A-misdemeanor) and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th degree (A-misdemeanor).

It is alleged that on Wednesday evening, Dingman choked a victim to the point of losing consciousness and then used an ax to damage the victim's vehicle. The victim was treated for injuries at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown.

Dingman was arraigned and remanded to the Herkimer County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond. The investigation is continuing.
