ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Remington Arms Co. is moving two production lines from upstate New York to a new plant in Alabama.

Remington officials say Friday they're moving the Bushmaster rifle and R1 pistol production lines from Ilion in Herkimer County to its Huntsville, Alabama, location as part of a consolidation plan involving other operations as well.

A spokesman for the gun company says that Remington is working to retain as many people at the affected facilities.

Among the other plants involved are a Minnesota factory that makes AR-15 and other rifles and the Montana Rifleman in Montana.

A spokesman for Remington didn't initially respond to a question about how many New York jobs will be lost due to the move.

Parent company Remington Outdoor announced in February it would expand the Alabama operation.
