Police Investigate Assault and Suicide in Fishs Eddy

Early Saturday morning, state police in Deposit and the Hancock Police Department responded to a residence on County Route 28 in Fishs Eddy in the Town of Hancock for a reported assault at that location.

Upon arrival police located a 52-year-old woman who had suffered various facial injuries before she was able to exit the residence after being in a verbal altercation with 52-year-old Ronald Milke, Jr. The woman was transported to Wilson Hospital in Johnson City.

After repeated attempts to contact Milke were unsuccessful, state police entered the residence and discovered Milke deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gun shot wound.

The investigation is continuing.
