Oneonta YMCA Goes Virtual with Frostbite 5K
This year, because of the coronavirus pandemic, non-profits everywhere are hosting their annual fundraising events with a virtual twist to keep the virus from spreading by drawing crowds of people together. With that in mind, the Oneonta YMCA has announced the beginning of their "Virtual YMCA Family Frostbite Run/Walk/Bike" event which kicks off today and runs through December 31.
How it works:
All December long, participants choose where and when to run, walk, or bike a 2.5K, 5K, or 10K. This year's event will honor the memory of John Hayen (Townsquare Media employee), longtime YMCA member and the area's "Ugly Christmas Sweater Fashionista", and will give an "Ugly Christmas" long-sleeve T-Shirt for those who are registered.
If you register by December 4th, you'll get your shirt by December 18th. If you register after that date, you can pick up your shirt the week of January 11th. All shirts will be picked up at The Oneonta Family YMCA or it can be mailed to you at a cost of $9 per shirt.
Participants are encouraged to post photos of them walking, running or biking in the event on the YMCA Family Frostbite Run/Walk/Bike facebook event page. If you do, you'll be entered in a drawing to win prizes. All proceeds support the Oneonta Family YMCA and its missions.
