Most people would never want to experience frostbite but in this case, it's a good thing!  The Oneonta Family YMCA will once again be holding their annual Frostbite 5K as a "Walk, Run, Stroll" on December 31 at 12:30 p.m., with the race starting outside Foothills Performing Arts Center on Market Street and ending in front of the Oneonta YMCA on Ford Avenue.

This is a very family-oriented race with first through third prize medals given out in different classes.  If you are looking for a nice, warm, flat race then this is probably not for you.  But if you want a course with some hills that could have a bit of a cold bite to it, this is the one for you! You can choose to walk, run or stroll along the course.

This year's race is once again dedicated to former long-time YMCA member, John Hayen who passed away from cancer in 2020. John was Oneonta's "fashionista" when it came to ugly Christmas sweaters and the YMCA invites Frostbite 5k participants to wear an ugly Christmas sweater in the event to get into the spirit of the season.
