The Oneonta Lions Club will be holding their "HOPS for Sight" on Saturday October 13 from 2-5 at the Deer haven Campground on Oneonta's West End.

The funds raised from this "Hops for Sight" event will be used to support the new "Lions See (Screening Eyes Early)" program.

The mission of the Lions See program is to decrease childhood blindness through early detection and treatment of most common vision disorders. Trained Lions Club members use the vision camera to provide eye screening to students in local elementary schools as well as Head Start Programs. If a problem is detected, the child is then referred to a physician for treatment. Local club members have actually been screening eyes in Unadilla, Davenport, and Schenevus in addition to all our local Oneonta Schools already.

The club purchased the camera about two years back in partnership with other surrounding Lions Clubs.

The funds raised from HOPS for SIght will be used for future camera expenses and any medical expenses should a child be referred to a physician and the family is in need of financial assistance.

Tickets are $20 per person. Each ticket allows you to sample beer and vote on your favorite brew.  In addition, the ticket stub will be put into a basket and names will be drawn throughout the day for items that have been donated by local businesses (food, gift cards, services).  Food will provided and for sale by Bones from the Copper Fox.

Tickets will be available the day of the event.
