Oneonta is a wonderful place to be, especially around the holidays! Not only is the town beautiful this time of year, there are so many community events to bring everyone together. The Destination Oneonta sponsored Ugly Sweater Contest kicks off the month, on December 1st at McLaughlin’s Clothing Store. Be sure to get there any time from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. to get your picture taken in your ugly sweater for the contest. Gift cards will be awarded to first, second, and third place winners.

You won’t want to miss the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony that same evening. It all begins at 5 p.m. There will be horse-drawn wagon rides, caroling, visits with Santa, dancers, refreshments and more. Local vendors and community groups will also be there with plenty of holiday creations. The tree lighting go on at 6 p.m.
