OCCA February Events Include Woods Walk, Stargazing

On Sunday, February 9th OCCA Program Director, Jeff O'Handley leads a walk at the Clark Sports Center as part of Cooperstown Winter Carnival. The walk will follow a trail through the woods and into an open wetland area. Participants should dress appropriately for the weather and trails that may be snowy, icy, muddy or any combination of the three. Participants should meet at noon in the main lobby at the Clark Sports Center, 124 County Road 52, Cooperstown. The program should end by 2pm.

Eyes turn to the sky on Wednesday, February 19th for 'Naked Eye Astronomy, Winter Edition: Are You Sirius?' OCCA Vice President Jim Hill will take participants on a tour of the constellations, planets and other celestial objects visible in the winter sky. The program begins at 7pm at the workshop at Mohican Farm, 7207 State Route 80, Cooperstown. Participants should dress to be outside, and should bring a chair or blanket so they don't have to sit on the ground. Hot chocolate and snacks will be served after.
